Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know a little bit about me. I was born and raised outside of Milton, PA, next to my grandmother’s farm, where the Schreck family has been living for generations. I have three brothers, and the family still gathers at Mom and Dad's house every Sunday afternoon to eat and visit with each other. So if you haven’t figured it out yet, family is a big deal to me. I was not raised in the Baptist tradition, but have gone through a long process and a lot of searching to end up where I am. I have experienced a number of different traditions including Lutheranism, Methodism, and Wesleyan. What drew me to practice my Christian faith through the American Baptist tradition was the denomination's great love for the Word of God and their emphasis on Believer’s Baptism and the need to make a personal commitment to a relationship with Jesus Christ. I did my undergraduate work at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where I earned a B.A. in History. While taking courses at Bloomsburg, I also earned a separate degree in Piano Technology (Piano Tuning and Repair). After college, I attended graduate school at Evangelical Theological Seminary in Myerstown, PA. There I spent three years attending classes full-time to earn my Masters of Divinity in Congregational Ministry. While attending seminary, I also interned at First Baptist Church of Milton where I preached, taught Sunday School classes and led the young adult (age 18-30) small group ministry. I also worked to fulfill denominational requirements for ordination, and was ordained in March 2009. I have a wife, Becky, who was my high school sweetheart. We were married in June of 2003. We are now the proud parents of Matthew Aaron, who was born in January 2009. We look forward to a long, exciting, ministry here and to growing and fostering relationships with all those who God has called us to serve. Make sure you check out the Pastor’s Picks Page to find out some of what I have been reading lately and recommend for you. Also, you can access last week’s sermon through the link.
